OLED LG develops automatic sliding door with built-in transparent OLED display


LG today announced that it has developed an automatic sliding door with transparent OLED display in collaboration with Swedish manufacturer Assa Abloy enterprise systems. This door will be used by enterprises and commercial users. The colorful gate will be able to better meet customers, communicate with employees or display advertisements.

In August, LG announced that its transparent displays were being used for subway car windows in Beijing and Shenzhen, while Panasonic and Xiaomi's transparent OLED TVs actually used LG panels.


In addition, Samsung, another major display manufacturer in South Korea, has tried to produce transparent OLED displays in the past, but the Korean Herald reported in 2016 that it had stopped production of the technology.

LG's announcement didn't give too much information about when these high-end sliding doors with screens will be available to enterprises, but given the deployment of transparent OLED technology, they should not be far away from decorating the world's most luxurious shopping malls.
